To kill or not to kill.......

Just came back from watching a neat movie called "Shootout at Lokandwala".... the movie deals with an incident that took place in 1992 when the cops killed 6 gangsters in a resedential locality when they could have just arrested them...... Now you might say that, what was the need for the killing ( i am sure all you human rights activisits must be thinking the same)....... Arrest them and have law take its course...... The question now arises Does LAW take its course....

To set the facts right..... These 6 people were gangsters......ppl who used to terrorize and kill people for money ( supari as they call it) ........ never spared anyone....... kill without regret and sometimes just for the heck of it..... Now the question would arise, are these people's lives worth anything??

The COPS side: The police generally beleive that these people can never change and hence it is better off to get rid of them..... They would continue to do the same thing once they get out.... More lives would be in danger if they are released on some pretext or the other....

The Human Rights Side: No more person is gulity until proven in a court of law.... Also every human being must be given a chance to redeem himself..... People cannot be killed just because they killed others..... If that is to be so, then what would be the difference between humans and animals......

The Gangster's Side: These are generally people who come from extreme poverty and take exotortion and killing as a way out for easy money.... There are others that do it for the power that they get by killing others..... These are people who love to see the fear in others and get a kick out of it....

My side :) : No person should be allowed to kill in the first place and if he does he should not be allowed to go free or with just imprisonment........ He should be dealt with fiercely and must be set an example for future killers..... There may be some mistakes in these encounter killings which would be due to negligence or just cops trying to take advantage of such a thing...... But if these people are also dealt with firmly, then even this would come down resulting in an creating a scene in which such incidents do not happen.......

Kill such people if neccecary ..........

Who should be president??

The post for the President of India is open and there is already a rat race on for someone to become one....... Let me clarify....... There is no rat race among the contestants but among the various parties supporting these contestants....... Each party wants to put up a president of their choice so that he doesnt eat their head later and do exactly as what the party says later.......

Let us go through the contestants..... APJ Kalam( though he has declined to continue - for some reason his name keeps popping up), The Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekawat, Karan Singh ( Congress Oldie), Atal Behari Vajpayee himself( i am not kidding), Amitabh Bachan ( my god- thank god that they dropped his name) and so forth.....

Now to come to think of it...... Does it really matter in a country like India?? Does the president have any powers at all?? he basically does what the Prime Minister ( reading ruling party ) tells him...... For Gods sake even his speeches to the parliment are prepared by PMO office.....

We had a really great president for the past 5 years in the form of APJ Abdul Kalam.... He is one person who i truly admire..... His vision and desire to make a difference to all the people around him is truly amazing.... But was he able to do anything constructive...... Did a president post ( which is supposed to be the highest power on paper) give him an oppurtunity to do anything....

Now the question that has raged over the decades..... Does India really need a president?? Does he do anything worthwhile other than give speeches and smile at the camera?? Oh yes he sometimes sends back the laws passed by the parliment....... But at the end of the day he signs them anyways ..... So there is no point of him sending it back in the first place.......

My take is that ....... India doesnt need a president ...... too much money is wasted on that position which really doesnt do anything ( read elections, flights, security etc).... But there is no one who is courageous enough to stand up and say it for the fear of backlash...... So people just go ahead do nothing...... It is one of the things that u cant do anything about but you just live with it....

Murund Jaljeera Beach.........

Just came back from the wonderful murund beach near kashid......... Spent two days there .... A beach which is really isolated from commercialization....... Neat places to stay in.......... Food is good and most importantly great place to drink :) ........

It all started when three musketeers ( me , anuj and nikhil ) planned to do something on saturday........ but confusion reigned supreme when me and anuj were planning to go to pune and nikhil at the same time was coming to mumbai......... After we sorted that out which meant that anuj would go to pune and then get back by sunday evening and nikhil would come on saturday to mumbai and we all would leave on monday morning..........

Monday morning........... I am still not sure of wether we would be going or not............ After a little bit of haggling, we finally left at 1pm (when we were supposed to leave by 10 am) .......... We caught my favourite bus no 25 to churchgate and then went to the gateway from there......... We then took a ferry to alibagh at 3 pm..........

When we reached alibagh, we realized that it was one pathetic beach and there was absolutely nothing to do there......... We then decided to go to kashid ......... When then reached kashid by taking two autorickshaws only to realize that everything in kashid shuts down at 7 pm and nothing ever happens in the night.......

We were pissed off to say the least......... People then asked us to go to Murund jalgeera beack where the place is lit up and u get acco right on the beach.......... We then again left to murund beach and finally found a great place where there was civilization and a great beach........

The amazing part of this beach was that it was truly empty ................... It was like the place which was free from people swarming over, hawkers all over the place etc............. The waves of the beach were just right.............. It wasnt violent nor was it feeble......... U could just drift away in the water for some distance ( which i did........... ) ..........

If u r in mumbai and have a couple of days off......... I definately recommend that u deffinately do go to this beach ..........

Recommendation : Kashid by day and Murund by night :) ( they are just half an hour apart)
