What does being happy mean ?

"What makes you happy? " - This is a status message that i was reading ..... i began to wonder what really makes me happy ?

I then started to wonder what does being happy mean ?

does happy mean being satisfied ?

does happy mean happy your loved ones next to you ?

does happy mean being content with the things that you have ?

or does happy mean the delight that you feel when you go ahead and achieve something ?

So I am throwing this question open to anyone who can answer it.... What does being happy mean ?

Places travelled...

1. We kicked started our marriage with travelling to the holy land - Nanjungud near mysore was our first stop... we stayed three days there to seek the God's blessings to keep our marriage solid as a rock...

2. Masinagudi - This was our mini HM ..... we stayed at this fabulous place called "The Wild at Northen Bay" in Masinagudi which was essentially a big bungalow converted a get away resort... this place just houses 6 rooms with a tree house as well.... we stayed in a tree house !!!

3. Tirupathi - there is a saying down south - " No marriage is ever complete, without the couple seeking the blessing of Lord Venkteshwara at Tirupathi "... so we were off to fulifill the saying and also go for a cousin's son hair removing ceremony.... More than the visit, i enjoyed the drive back from tirupathi where i was dragging with a Sumo at 160 KMPH...... thats another story anyways

The trip actually consisted of us going to a total of 16 places which included a number of small places like Waterloo etc....

To explain more about the trip, i guess i would need to write another psot long enough as this...

All i would like to say is that we spent nearly 35 days in europe, exploring as much as possible... i dont think i would be able to forget the time we spent there....My sincere advice for anyone going to europe, please go backpacking without agendas :)

a failed state.....

Sri lankan cricters attacked near Gaddafi stadium in Lahore...... i couldnt beleive what i was hearing... its one thing to spread terror across the border but a whole new dimension to spread terror within, attacking people who have come to help Pakistan regain status of a safe test playing nation...

Its shocking as well as depressing, how a certain section of people can go about ruining the lives of others and still be not accountable... Pakistan internal problems are affecting India... IPL to be cancelled and soon the commonwealth games may be cancelled as well... I dont think any western country would ever come to India for playing cricket for the next few years...

Pakistan itself is going to be split in a number of differnt ways...... the pact in Swat valley for imposition of Shariat law is easily going to spell doom for all the women in that state... people instead of moving forward, will easily be going back to the stone ages... Tough it may sound inconceivable, US and other countries should take over Pakistan to help it come back to life... An IRAQ type mission is far more appropriate in Pakistan than it did in IRAQ beacuse of the simple reason, that activities in Pakistan are affecting not only itself but also the countries around it...

The real problem is that Pakistan democracy has set up in such a way that nobody at any time has a clear manadate to power... The army can take over Pakistan as and when it feels like...maybe the army taking pakistan back in its hands may help in curbing such activities...

I write this in sorrow and depression and i hope that things would change for the better for all of us...

marriage and its learning :)

the last time i wrote a post was when the mumbai terror attacks took place........ it has been 3 months and for some reason i have not been able to push myself to write another one.... a number of things happend after that ....

1. It has been 1 year since i have been married..... dont know what has changed and what hasnt.... but i certainly know i much more aware of brands now :)

2. i know to cook and help out a little......

3. i know most of the differnt types of clothes women wear........ i still think i know the names of only half of them ...... but i am getting there

4. i now know how much moody women can be and how much little they show of it...

5. i know that you have to drive slower when a woman sits next to you and faster when a guy sits next to you in the car....

6. a small stuble - means that you are unshaved, even tough it would been just yesterday since you last shaved...

7. i no longer have a say in what clothes i wear....

8. orkut and facebook are meant not only for communication...

9. you have to be chivalrous even to girl friends whom you have know for a long time...

10. you need to take some sweets or gifts when you go to your friends places .... i mean when i go to a guys friends place...

11. women are "more happy" when you buy them stuff that they dont ask for(even if they wouldnt need it)...and they are just "happy" when you buy them stuff that they ask for(things that they actually would need)....

12. its okay for a handbag to be worth 50k... its not that okay for a music system to be 50k

13. footwear will have a minimum of 5 different types of categories.... bags i think is 10... but i am still learning...

those are the ones i can think of as of now... been a great experience over the last year... i dont mind doing all the things above :) .... i am still learning... and will update this post again next year...

for all the married men out there.... i am sure you will be able to appreciate the things above :)

Fucked Up.....

I went to sleep yesterday night seeing that the Indians were making mincemeat of the English bowlers... Seeing Sehwag and Sachin in full flow was so pleasing to the eye....

I wake up today to news that bought tears to my eyes... It never happend before.... Not when people were killed in local trains, bombs planted in plain sight outside malls and multiplexes...

This time its different... This time its more than some anonymous terrorist placing bombs all over the place... Targetting the main hot spots of mumbai... Some how this time its personal...

18 hours and ongoing... 100 people dead and 300 injured... I can just sit back and watch the news ... I feel helpless... I dont know what to do....

Today is a day to mourn... Today is a day to sit back and ponder...Maybe the terrorist have won at the end of the day... They finally got people like me sitting in A/C offices to think... To feel sorrow... To feel helpless...

Congragulations.... You have won... You have shown you can do anything you want...

I hope tommorow will not be like yesterday... Not just another day... I hope to see some oppurtunity where i can contribute to bring all this to an end..

Till then i sit and mourn in my desk...

Who are we kidding ?

The Olympics has come and gone........ The Chinese have shown their might in not only hosting an amazing games but also being the highest medal getter in the event.....

There has been so much talk of India hosting the 2020 Olympics ....... that you would actually start to think that it could be possible...... i know we have to hope to do big things...... but are we really in a position to host an olympics in india ????

We need to ask ourselves the following questions...... what is it that we are really good at ??? Planning - a big no, Infrastructure - in shambles all across the country, Finances - do we really have 50 billion dollars just for one event(in todays value) ??? Can we probably do half as well as China - the answer maybe a sounding no........

Then why is there so much hope and hype for hosting an olympics....... even if we do get an oppurtunity to do so...... is it going to be good for us........ with the present level of corruption in the country, it is anohter oppurtunity for our politians, beaurcrats etc to walk away with loads of money...... while the reason for it being spent would still be in shambles.....

i do know that a lot of this would depend on how well we would host the 2010 commonwealth games, the prepration for which is going on ( again muddled with corruption and confusion) ...... and i am sure that the commonwealth games would be nowhere in comparison to any other international event..... leave alone the chinese olympics.....

I just hope that if we do get a chance to host the Olympics, we are ready to take on such an oppurtunity and host the event in such a way that would make us proud....

How can you think of killing a child ?

I write this post in regard to the case of Harsh and Niketa Mehta who want to abort their 25 week old feotus..... The feotus in question is "supposedly" diagnosed with congenetial heart problems which could affect the way it would live......

So now you ask the question " Should the parents abort ? " ....... On the face of it, the answer should be pretty simple - "Yes"........ why would you want a child to suffer ? The chance of not having a normal life is strong.... So lets go ahead and not give the child a chance to live.... ( It would add to ours and the child's problems you see ) ....

Bull shit........ Who are we to decide wether the child would have a normal life or not.... Shouldnt we at least give a chance to the child for a normal life ( Medically a 25 week old feotus is actually living ) ....... Shouldnt you be trying to do everything possible in this age of modern sceince to cure the child of its problems....

As the high court put it....... How is it different from mercy killing..... so if some one has problems of health, we should have a right to go ahead and kill them ( could it not be extended to that ) ....... Have people thought of the more serious consequences later.... Medical science improves...... Kids are diagnosed that they would suffer from lets Diabetes, Obescity, etc........ So the child should not suffer right ?? Lets abort it then.....

There are innumerous kids born with congential heart diseases or various other type of diseases.... And quite of few of them do make it.... We should encourage everyone to at least take that chance...... Instead of actually encouraging people to abort kids.... When you take a decision to have kids, you should be ready for all possible scenarios.....

I am pretty sure that not a lot of people would agree with me ( even my wife doesnt ) .......... but i just encourage you to look at the larger picture and i am sure you too would feel the same way and be glad that the High Court did not upload the plea.....
